After you’ve worked a while on your memoir, take another look at its opening. Because you’ve focused on other parts of your story for a while, you can now take a fresh look at its beginning.
Ask
yourself:
- Will it grab my readers?
- Will it surprise them?
- Stir up curiosity?
- Make them laugh? Or make them cry?
- Will it intrigue them? Charm them?
- Will it motivate them to keep reading?
If
not, rewrite your beginning.
And
please don’t feel bad about that.
